Currently all AED’s, except Telefunken, AED7000 and Primedic, can be used to defibrillate children.
When resuscitating a child a shock with a lower energy level is administered, one that is suitable for the smaller body of the victim.
This is the reason AED’s have a child protocol for victims below the 8 years or 25 kg.
AED’s that are suitable for child resuscitation will switch protocols when child electrode pads or a child key is inserted or by pressing the child button.
